Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 August 2026
1. What this covers
This policy explains what personal information HomeSorted (“we”, operated by Idot Ltd, NZBN 9429041407691, of 22A Edward St, Wakefield, New Zealand) collects through the app and website, why, and what rights you have over it. It’s written to comply with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020; if you’re outside New Zealand, additional local rights may also apply to you.
2. What we collect
Directly from you or your household’s use of the app:
- Account details — email address and authentication data (via Supabase Auth).
- Household profile — household name, home type, number of adults/children.
- Pantry and inventory data — items, quantities, locations, expiry dates, purchase costs.
- Dietary and allergy information — any diet or allergen flags a member adds to their profile, used only to filter recipes and Brain suggestions for that household.
- Meal plans, shopping lists, budget, bills, and envelope allocations.
- Household Brain conversations — questions you ask and the data the Brain reads to answer them.
- Billing details — handled directly by Stripe; we hold your plan and Stripe customer ID, not your card number.
3. How we use it
To provide the Service: running your pantry, meal planning, budget, and Brain features; to process payments; to respond to support requests; and to meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or ad-targeting — HomeSorted carries no ad-tracking or marketing analytics scripts.
4. Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run HomeSorted, each processing only what they need to do their job:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage.
- Vercel — application hosting.
- Stripe — payment processing for paid plans.
- Anthropic and/or OpenAI — process the content of your Household Brain questions (and the household data needed to answer them) to generate a response. They do not receive your account credentials or billing details.
We don’t share your data with anyone else, except where required by law or with your explicit consent.
5. Cookies
We use only the session cookies Supabase Auth needs to keep you signed in. There are no third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
6. Data retention and deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can export a full copy of your household’s data at any time, and delete your account permanently, from Household settings — both are free on every plan. Deletion removes your household’s data from our systems, subject to any records we must keep by law (e.g. transaction records for tax purposes).
7. Children
A steward may create a child or teen login and controls that member’s household permissions. These are progressive permissions, not separate paid-plan accounts. A child only sees the personal surfaces and responsibilities their steward has enabled; sensitive household areas remain unavailable unless deliberately granted.
8. Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you. The fastest way is the in-app export and account tools; for anything else, contact us at support@homesorted.today. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).
9. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our infrastructure providers, and access to your household’s data is restricted to its own members by row-level security at the database layer. No system is perfectly secure, and we can’t guarantee absolute security of information transmitted to us.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll post the updated version here with a new “Last updated” date.
